We build in features to help Primary Schools meet new government guidelines - Universal Infant Free School Meals is a good example.

If you would like to discuss in detail how we can help with this government initiative get in touch.

NEWS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL CATERING

INTRODUCTION OF UNIVERSAL INFANT FREE SCHOOL MEALS
From September 2014 all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will automatically be entitled to a Free School Meal

UIFSM

LunchHound can help you cope with this big change in many ways...

WHO IS ENTITLED TO A FREE SCHOOL MEAL?

The system assumes that all students in reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a Free School Meal (Universal Infant Free School Meal). The system also picks up information from the Student Information database (MIS) and so knows which of these students, and students in older year groups, are entitled to a Free School Meal due to Pupil Premium.

HOW IS THIS DEALT WITH AT THE TILL?

Student accounts will be automatically loaded with the value of their Free School Meal. For privacy reasons there is nothing on the till to indicate that a student has the entitlement, rules can be applied allowing the school to control how this money is spent. At the end of the school day, any entitlement not spent will be wiped from the systems and the students account will be reloaded with the correct entitlement amount on the next day.

HOW IS FREE SCHOOL MEAL UPTAKE REPORTED

LunchHound knows which students are entitled to a Free School Meal due to Pupil Premium and which are due to UIFSM; reports are therefore readily available, from the Administraion Application, to report on uptake of the two groups, separately or combined. Access to these reports is controlled via Pin Number.

ADVANCE MENU PLANNING

LunchHound allows menus to be created several weeks in advance, these would then appear at the tills automatically and at the appropriate time, can be sent out to parents.

KEEPING PARENTS INFORMED

LunchHound holds the parents details and allows schools to send out automated emails or texts, to give advance menu information and student balance details. Additionally parents are able to see what their child has eaten. Keeping parents informed in this way can be a useful way to encourage take up of Free School Meals.
